L2 Dual-Combo Set: A Dynamic Duo! 

The Optolong L2 Dual Combo Filter Set combines two premium 2" mounted filters, the L-eXtreme and L-Synergy! Optolong is excited to streamline narrowband imaging for color camera astrophotographers. This set allows you to capture stunning Hubble Palette (SHO) images without the need for a monochrome camera or a full set of SHO filters. With high transmission and excellent halo suppression, it's compatible with telescope systems as fast as f/3.3, making it ideal for capturing emission nebulae even from light-polluted skies.

L-eXtreme:

The Optolong L-eXtreme is a dual-narrowband filter designed to transmit only the key nebula emission lines OIII (500.7 nm) and H‑Alpha (656.3 nm). By blocking all other light pollution wavelengths, it ensures that only the OIII and H‑Alpha signals are captured, maximizing effective transmission. With years of technological refinement, the L-eXtreme also excels at suppressing bright star halos, delivering clearer, high-contrast images of emission nebulae.

L-Synergy:

The Optolong L-Synergy is a dual-narrowband filter designed to deliver high transmission for both SII (672.4 nm) and OIII (500.7 nm) spectral lines, while providing exceptional rejection of all other wavelengths. By blocking unwanted light pollution, it ensures that only the OIII and SII signals are captured, maximizing effective transmission. The L-Synergy also excels at suppressing bright star halos: producing clearer, high-contrast images of emission nebulae.

Optical Design:

The L2 Dual-Combo Set is designed to let the true colors of nebulae shine through in OIII, Ha, and SII while cutting out most of the unwanted light pollution. Designed with precision, these filters were crafted with key nebulae colors in mind, here’s a closer look at what wavelengths pass and which ones are blocked:

A transmission chart, like the one above, is a filter’s fingerprint! It shows which colors of light the filter lets through (the tall peaks) and which it blocks out (the flat areas), helping you see how it boosts nebula signals while cutting light pollution.

Compatability

These filters are compatible with DSLR/CCD cameras, and color CMOS sensors! Supporting telescope systems with ratios of f/3.3 or above (slower systems). Its key advantage lies in enabling astrophotography amateurs to capture exceptionally detailed emission nebulae even in light-polluted environments. Both filters come in a standard 2" mounted design with M48x0.75 threads, making it easy to screw into most filter wheels, focusers, and accessories. Its versatile threading ensures broad compatibility across a wide range of telescope setups!

Traditional Narrowband for OSC

This innovative combination breaks through the traditional limitations of narrowband imaging with color cameras. By isolating OIII & Ha (L-eXtreme), OIII & SII (L-Synergy), it gives one-shot color imagers access to creating a SHO palette image. Without the need to switch to a monochrome camera or invest in an expensive SHO three-filter set, users can achieve stunning Hubble-like images at a fraction of the cost and complexity!
