Triplet Refractor Telescopes

What Is a Triplet Telescope?

A triplet telescope is a type of refractor that uses three lens elements in its objective lens to collect and focus light. Compared with a traditional doublet refractor, the three-element design provides better control of chromatic aberration, producing sharper images and more accurate star colors. This makes triplet refractors particularly popular among astrophotographers and observers who want high optical performance. Key advantages Better color correction — reduced color fringing around bright stars Sharp, high-contrast images Excellent for astrophotography Good performance with modern full-frame cameras Suitable for both deep-sky imaging and visual observation
